Wip: Not Getting Very Far…
The Shadowless World: Unbelievably Out of Your Depth
There are three levels of conflict in this story, I’ve done a lot from the lowest two. Mortals trying to gain power over society, and mortals trying to save the world, but I have not done much from the highest level…
It is by far the most petty of the conflicts, but the one with the most far reaching consequences.
The Shadowless World: Ch1 Prologue: The Monsters We Make
"noble people with noble intent are capable of far more damage than the cruel ones."
The Shadowless World:Chapter 1 - “Of the Same Coin” - Cover
Now I’m not actually starting this for real right now, I want to get my other projects to points where I’m happy leaving them for a while before starting in on anything new. (I want to be able to put all of my effort into this one.)
Species Anatomy/Profile Reference #1: Vulpa (Fox)
Subspecies: Vulpen (red foxes), Vulox (brown foxes) and Vulago (Arctic Foxes) - While many species have gone to war with one another in the ancient past, no war has ever seemed as trivial as the Vulpa civil war. Nobody remembers why they began fighting, and nobody remembers the great empire they destroyed. Nowadays they’re content to live near each other, and save their dirty looks for when the other species aren’t looking.
Culture: Prone to Vanity and emotional outbursts, the Vulpa are easily lead astray. For all their cleverness and wit they do not usually act on logic and reason, and are more than willing to change their minds at the drop of a hat if they think it’s the right thing to do. They are the least prone to marry outside of their species.
SCRAPPED: The Shadowless World: Prologue - Page ?
Though these events will probably still be canonical, and this conversation will probably be in the final version relatively unchanged, I’m not going to be using this, because of changes in style, order of events, and well honestly, I feel like I can do better now.
But this has been sitting on my desktop for a while, and I did put in the effort, so there you go.
The shadowless world: Siblings
I had to combine those two pictures, because even though I drew them a month apart they just looked like they were supposed to be the same picture, or maybe that’s what I intended all along.
Oh well, these two aren’t going to be in the story together for quite a while, may as well do something with the two of them.
The Shadowless World: William’s Soul
A long time ago when all the characters in this story were human, I toyed around with the ideas of familiars and spirit animals. Of course I dropped that when they stopped being human, because… well, that seemed a little odd.
But since then the idea has developed into something else entirely, the idea that a long time ago, the creatures of this world were something else, and their souls still represent what they would have been.
The Shadowless World - The Me That’s Not Me…
"You lose your body, you lose your anchor to the physical world, you lose your mind, you lose your ability to interpret the physical world. But what if you lost both, no body, no mind? What would you be? and how could you ever find yourself again?"
